Karma Chooses Weird Instruments of War

Tonight while in a Publix grocery store, my family and I were doing a little shopping. For some reason, my son Aidan was in one of those moods where he would scream really loudly for no valid reason. (I guess it was his version of tourettes.) We of course told him to stop, but it would flare up every once in a while. Moving right along. Towards the end of the spree, there was a lady in the produce section and she dropped a head of lettuce. It just so happened to roll right in front of Aidan causing him to trip and fall. The lady apologized several times and was obviously embarrassed. Aidan however with no tears was mute, and didn’t scream, but he sure did glare. The look on his face was as though he was waiting to see if the lady was going to hurl another head of iceberg at him. I hope you don't think I'm a bad father for laughing, but it was funny. He soon forgot and we were on way out the door. The moral of the story . . . (why don't you fill in the blank!)

I Can Hear The Angels Singing

Confession’s good for the soul… and so is the David Crowder Band. I had heard of the DCB a few years ago but had never heard their music. Embarrassingly, I guess I just wrote them off do to my perception of the industry. I finally got some albums from a friend and I really like them. The albums are: A Collision or (3+4=7), B Collision (Enhanced), and Illuminate.

I guess what I like most about DCB is that they record for there love of God and music, and not because they think this is the direction that CCM is going therefore they need to capitalize on it.

Songs like “I Saw the Light” “O God Where Are You?” “All Creatures, No. 2” “The Lark Ascending” “I Can Hear the Angels Singing” were some of my favorites. The layering and textures used were not new to me, but it's so refreshing to hear a Christian band execute music so well.

There was so much I heard in their music that I liked; A little Sufjan, a little of Imogens’ Hide and Seek, and even a little bit of OK Computer on one song. (Just a side note, you can also tell by listening to him that he has a Mac, so he automatically get points for that.) In conclusion, I think that artistically, musically, and lyrically that the DCB shines above most in their genera.
